Description

A 2-day, 1-night climb of Misti Volcano (5,822 masl), one of the seven active volcanoes of the Central Andes Volcanic Zone, located just 17 km in a straight line from the Arequipa Cathedral. The 15 km route passes by the Aguada Blanca dam before reaching base camp and ascending to the crater, which has fumarolic activity.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1: pickup from your hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. and about a 3-hour 4x4 transfer to the trailhead.
  2. Gradual ascent of about 3 hours, with views of the Aguada Blanca dam (4,230 masl) and its birds, including flamingos.
  3. Arrival at base camp (4,700–4,800 masl), setting up, and lunch/dinner around 4:00 p.m.
  4. Afternoon spent with the group, with our guide sharing stories about the Misti and Chachani volcanoes.
  5. Day 2: ascent begins at 1:00 a.m., after breakfast, lasting 6 to 7 hours to the summit (5,822 masl), where you can observe the crater with fumarolic activity.
  6. Spectacular views of the city of Arequipa and the surrounding valley from the top.
  7. A descent of about 2 hours to base camp, followed by the transfer back to Arequipa.
