Description

A 2-day, 1-night tour of the Colca Valley, with lodging in Chivay, hot springs, Cruz del Condor, and the canyon's main viewpoints, one of the deepest canyons in the world.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 (7:30–8:00 a.m.): pickup at the hotels and departure along the Yura road, skirting the Chachani snow-capped peak towards Pampa Cañahuas, home to vicuñas.
  2. Stop at the Toccra wetlands (migratory birds and flamingos), the crater of the extinct Chucura volcano, and the volcano viewpoint (4,910 masl), the highest point of the route.
  3. Arrival in Chivay between 13:30 and 14:00, lunch on your own, and check-in at the Rumi Wasi Chivay hotel.
  4. Free afternoon at the Chivay hot springs (35°–38°C). At 19:00, optional dinner with folkloric show.
  5. Day 2 (6:00 a.m.): breakfast and departure (6:30 a.m.) to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, with a 45-minute walk to observe the condor flight.
  6. Return with stops at the colonial towns of Maca and Yanque, and at the Antahuilque, Huayrapunko, and Peña Blanca viewpoints.
  7. Lunch and return to Arequipa at 13:00, with a stop in Patahuasi (14:30) and arrival in the city between 16:30 and 17:00.
